Macdonalds calorie count

Macdonalds are now displaying calories for their meals and drinks.  It will be interesting to see whether this has a big impact on the meals people choose.

You can check out their website for more details.

Stop the Traditional Herbal Medicinal Products Directive

Background (Preamble):

The Traditional Herbal Medicinal Products Directive (THMPD) is presented as a service to European citizens and as simple to apply. However, close examination of its methods in practice demonstrates that the reality will be an egregious abridgement of the rights of individuals to obtain and use the health treatments they choose.

While it benefits citizens for governmental agencies to advise on efficacy and safety of products that have been commonly and freely used by utilising a particular method of inquiry, that information may not address the needs of individuals and presumes that there is only one system for obtaining accurate and beneficial information. That is equivalent to allowing only one religion as the accepted source of truth.

The costs and systems required by THMPD are generally not manageable by small manufacturers, which are the predominant suppliers of herbal products. This results in an unfair competitive advantage to multinational corporations, which ultimately limits the individual’s access to quality and selection in herbal medicinal products.

With THMPD, the European Union has overstepped and is severely restricting the unwritten rights of each human being to choose and access methods of managing health. It is a dangerous usurpation of civil rights that assumes the individual does not have the ability to make proper health decisions. Self-determination in matters of health must be treated as an inherent civil right, and THMPD is an abrogation of it.

Coming Up…..Weight Control

I am really excited about some projects I have in the pipeline.  One of which will be a program to help with weight control.  I can’t say too much right now so…….watch this space!

Farewell India

Today is our last day in Delhi, we have a 1pm coach out of here to catch our flight home.

I have mixed emotions about the whole experience, particularly as Mike has been so ill.

The races were certainly challenging but will make me a stronger person, certainly mentally if not physically.  There were some awesome rides by the top women yesterday, really incredible.

I have been very chuffed with James’ performances.

See you all soon.

Delhi - The Final Frontier

Happy days…..my racing season is now at an end.  Was 19th in the time trial today in 37 degrees.  Will be a shock to get back to Guernsey temperatures.

Was a tough day out but was always going to be in those temperatures.  Had a headwind return on a slight uphill.  Boy did I suffer during the last 10km.

James did a superb ride with a 17th place finish.  He’s had such a great Games and is hungry for more.

Got bike packing to do.  We leave Delhi in the early hours of Friday morning.

Looking forward to seeing all my lovely clients/boot camp participants soon.

Delhi Update

Over two weeks now in Delhi and struggling with the food.  Having all these intolerances is making it challenging as the food for me has been very “samey”.  I’ve strayed a little on the food the last couple of days and think my body is telling me it doesn’t like it.

Decided not to do the 4.5 hr trek to the highway and back today - the journey itself is about 20 mins each way but we all have to come back together so it makes it a long trip as we can’t leave before the last rider is ready to go.  It would be an opportunity to see the course in full but I wouldn’t be riding it at race pace and think I will benefit more from doing a short ride on my turbo trainer and getting more rest before tomorrow’s time trial.

I race at 10.30 am tomorrow (Wednesday) which will be 6 am UK time.  I don’t have the start sheet yet so don’t know my exact start time but expect to be one of the first off. There is a technical meeting today which Rob, our manager, is attending so will know more after that.

The medical team were great at the road race.  They helped us hand out bottles to the riders which we really needed.  They also looked after an exhausted me after my road race, not to mention their general enthusiam.  These people give up nearly three weeks of their time for no payment and have really done us proud.  So a big thank you to Emma, Dan and Bill for their help.
