Top results

Had fantastic results from one of my clients tonight.  Not only did he have good weight loss but improved body fat %, lowered visercal fat, reduced metabolic age in just 3 weeks but in 3 months has brought his 5 km run time down by 2 mins 22 seconds which is hugely impressive.

This is a client who has been working with me for just under 2 years and has already had good weight loss and improved fitness.  This makes the results even more impressive as he has already built up a good level of fitness but just shows what some extra focus can do.

Another win for McLaughlin

20 year old James McLaughlin achieved his seventh win of the season in the Grand Prix Leclerc, Honnetbont, the third in France, dedicating her success to a friend who died last week.

Tuesday’s Boot Camp

We will be meeting at the rear  car park at Saumarez Park for Tuesday’s boot camp at 6.30pm.  New recruits are welcome.  You will need to complete a registration form.

Metabolic Testing

Recently  my metabolic rate was tested by me breathing into a machine for 4 minutes.  Results were quite interesting in comparison to other results I saw.  Being a non-drinker my fat burning was far better than those that drink. As a cyclist, much of the training I do is to get my body to burn fat rather than glycogen.  This is because our fat stores are fat greater than our glycogen stores.  If we train to burn fat at lower intensities as opposed to glycogen we become more efficient.  This could well be one reason why I keep strong towards the end of races compared to many of my peers.

The test showed me the impact of drinking alcohol on metabolism.  It also showed that by exercising you burn fat due to depleting glycogen stores. It adds weight to my beliefs that a low glycaemic load diet, regular exercise and limited alcohol consumption are the way to manage weight.

Saturday’s Boot Camp
