Feeling tired?
If you are feeling tired then you might be lacking Vitamin B12 which is part of the Vitamin B complex. B12 is needed for maintenance of the nervous system and the synthesis of red blood cells. If you are deficient in this Vitamin it can result in anaemia. Symptoms of anaemia include fatigue, breathlessness, dizziness, difficulty sleeping and concentrating, weakness and sore mouth. People suffering anaemia also tend to look pale and can have a rapid heartbeat.
B12 is also important for children’s growth as well as maintaining a healthy nervous system. Vitamin B12 is primarily found in meat, eggs and dairy products which are more reliable than sources from plant products such as seaweeds and algae.
Vegetarians and those that tend to suffer from anaemia should boost their Vitamin B12 intake through fortified foods such as fortified soy beverages, cereals, meat substitutes, or by using a Vitamin B12 supplement.
