Top Tips for Food Shopping

Here are some tips to help you keep your shopping trolley free of high fat snacks:

  • Don’t food shop when you are hungry.  If you do you will be more tempted to buy treats and high calories foods that you would not buy otherwise.

  • Don’t buy foods just because they are on offer.  If you don’t normally eat those cakes or biscuits then you aren’t actually saving yourself money.  Let’s face it, these special offers are set by the retailers to tempt you and you have fallen for their trick.

  • Miss out certain aisles.  Avoid the temptation of the chocolate and cake aisles by avoiding them altogether.

  • Don’t be tempted by the sweets and chocolates at the counter.  The retailer’s final attempt to lure you in by putting racks of chocolates and sweets at the counter – there should be a law against it.  Don’t fall into the trap of buying treats for your children at this stage, otherwise they will expect it every week.  Don’t even look at these racks instead show the retailer that you will not be tempted by their little ploy.
