Muscle Cramps

I frequently get asked what is the best course of action for someone suffering with cramp.  Cramp is usually caused by dehydration/loss of electrolytes, however it can also be caused through tension. 

Initially the best course of action is to massage the affected area.  You should consume some fluids plus electrolytes.  Good sports shops sell electrolyte tablets which can be put into water. You can also purchase the likes of magnesium from chemists.  Bananas contain potassium which is an electrolyte needed by the body.  If you get little muscle twitches, these can be caused by lack of electrolytes also.
