How to Lose Weight - Tip 7

Stop eating when you are ‘pleasantly satisified’.  Start paying attention to your body.  It takes your stomach approx. 20 mins to send a message to your brain that you are full and during that time you have most likely over-eaten.  If you tend to eat too much at your main meals, reduce your portion size by 10% at a time until you are eating the right amount.

Tuesday’s boot camp

Tuesday evening’s boot camp will be held at Jerbourg at 7.15 pm.

How to Lose Weight - Tip 6

Ensure you are drinking enough.  Sometimes you feel hungry but in fact you are thirsty.  General rule of thumb is to drink beween 6 and 8 glasses of water a day, however, on hot days or if you are doing lots of exercise you might need more.  Pay atention to your urine which should be straw colour, if it is dark yellow or orange you are most likely dehydrated.

How to Lose Weight - Tip 5

Reward yourself when you achieve your goals but not with food.  As a society, we tend to use food for many emotions and celebrations but there are other ways to reward ourselves such as buying new clothes, going on a break, buying a DVD or perhaps some new shoes.

Wednesday and Friday Boot Camp

I am running boot camps on Wednesday (9 am) and Friday (9.15 am) mornings commencing 16 June.  The cost is £80 for 8 sessions.  If you miss a session you can make it up by coming to a Tuesday evening or Saturday morning boot camp.

If this is of interest please get in touch

Please note that there will be no ‘pay as you go’ with this boot camp but you can come and try one session for £10.

Guernsey’s obese children

I was in M&S earlier with a basket full of fruit and veg and have to admit to being rather horrified when I saw what the lady behind me in the queue unloaded from her shopping basket.  It was full of cakes, pastries and unhealthy snacks.  There were about a dozen items and I could not see one healthy piece of food.  Now, it is possible I guess that she does her fruit and veg shopping elsewhere or on another day but that was a year’s quota of cakes and pastries for me, probably more than a year to be honest.  The lady herself was rather overweight/obese and I was sorry to see that her eldest daughter was obese and younger daughter was overweight and my guess is will be obese in a few years.  This is not an uncommon sight - there were other overweight children in the car park.

Why do people continue to ignore the simple healthy eating advice that is all around us and feed their children a load of fatty snacks.  No wonder some children have behavioural problems and don’t want to exercise.  Not to mention future food related disorders or hang ups.

C’mon parents, you wouldn’t put cola in your car as it wouldn’t run very well but you are happy to load up your most precious possessions with rubbish.

How to Lose Weight - Tip 4

It’s all in the planning.  Ensure you have healthy snacks available both at home and in your office drawer.  Also plan your meals for each day so that you always have a healthy meal at the ready.  It doesn’t have to take hours to cook good food.  Use a steamer - your food can be cooking whilst you take care of other chores.  Cooking with pasta, rice, beans, fish doesn’t take long.  Excuses are just that….excuses.

Saturday’s Boot Camp

Saturday’s Boot Camp will be at Fort Houmet at 10 am.  This is in between Albecq and Vazon.

Going Up

Well done to last night’s boot camp participants for making it up Jerbourg steps.  We can use those times as markers for improvement throughout the spring/summer.

How to Lose Weight - Tip 3

Pay attention to your eating habits, what and when you are eating.   Ask yourself, “what is that biscuit doing for me”?  This can often help get to the bottom of why you are over eating or how your diet can be improved.
