Blue is the Colour

Are you getting a good mix of fruit and vegetables?  Think colour when making your selection, as the more variety of colour means a better variety of nutrients.  Today I am looking at blue and purple fruit and vegetables.  These include Blueberries, Blackberries, Black currants, Elderberries, Purple figs, Purple grapes, Plums, Raisins, Purple cabbage, Purple asparagus, Purple carrots and Eggplant to name some.

Blue and purple fruits and vegetables contain antioxidants and therefore help to resist the ageing process.  They also play an important role in urinary tract health and memory function.

Blue and purple fruit and vegetables contain nutrients that play a role in supporting retinal (eye) health, keeping cholesterol levels low and boosting immunity.  Not only this but these nutrients fight inflammation, reduce tumour growth and reduce the activity of cancer cells
