Is your tiredness linked to food?

Are you feeling tired all too often?  It’s a fact that consuming high quantities of sugary foods makes you feel tired and bloated.  Another reason for feeling tired to not eating sufficiently or not eating a well balanced diet, as your body becomes deprived of vital nutrients.  Eating about 5 small meals a day as opposed to 3 large meals gives you a better energy balance throughout the day and stops the heavy and tired feeling you get from consuming large meals.

Eat a well balanced diet.  Start the day off with a mix of slow burning carbohydrates such as wholemeal toast or porridge and add some protein such as an egg or nuts.  Snack on fruit and nuts or low sugar yoghurt.  Ensure you eat your 5 portions of fruit and vegetables each day and aim for plenty of colour as this is a good indication that you are having a good balance of nutrients.  Also ensure you keep sufficiently hydrated throughout the day.
