Saturday’s Boot Camp

Saturday’s boot camp is at the Reservoir, meeting at 10 am.  If you find you are in the wrong car park, you just need to walk across the bridge.

Basmati - “Queen of Scents”

Basmati Rice (“Queen of Scents”) is a long-grain, non-glutinous rice.  It is gentle on the digestive system and is ‘saatvic’ or pure.  Basmati rice balances the physiology and builds body tissue.

Basmati rice is best used for biryani, pilafs or as a side order.  It has a lighter, fluffier texture than other rice and is available in both white and brown versions.  Brown  Basmati rice contains about 20% more fibre than other brown rice.

Before you cook basmati rice, soak it in a bowl of cool water and stir frequently.  Replace the water four or five times until it no longer has a milky appearance.
