Butternut Squash - the fruity one with lots of umph!

Butternut Squash is a member of the “Gourd” family which also encompasses cucumber, melon and pumpkin.  Although most of us think of it as a vegetable, it’s actually a fruit because it has seeds.  Hey ho, you learn something everyday.

Low in fat and packed with fibre, it will help your digestive system.  Filled with antioxidants and B6, it’s great for your immunity.  The Butternut Squash also supports bone health due to its potassium content.

The orange colour means it is full of carotenoids which have so many health benefits, including protection against heart disease, age related macular degeneration (which destroys central vision) and breast cancer.

Wow, what a power food!!!
