Tell me what you want

Let me know what you are after from either a boot camp or personal training session.  Do you want me to structure a boot camp session for you and your colleagues or help prepare you and your friends for your first 10km run?   Do you have a group that can cope with real hardcore boot camp?   Tell me what you are looking for in 2010.

Do you know your starchy carbs from fibrous carbs?

When most people think of complex carbohydrates they think of starchy carbohydrates such as bread, oats, noodles, couscous, pasta and rice.  However, there are also fibrous carbohydrates such as spinach, asparagus, cauliflower, onions, broccoli, mushrooms and peppers as well as varieties of dark green leafy vegetables.  These should form the bulk of our carb intake.

It is important that starchy carbs are eaten in the form of whole grains, brown rice and pasta for example.  Carrots, yams, squash and legumes all fall into the starchy carbohydrate category.  The great thing about fibrous carbohydrates, apart from the fact that they are full of nutrients, is that they fill you up for relatively few calories.

We should be eating 3 servings of fibrous carbohydrates per day, ie leafy greens or broccoli and a serving of orange and red vegetables.
