Strawberries

With Wimbledon on at the moment, it seemed appropriate to provide some data on the food we associate with that event….strawberries (without the cream of course!).

Strawberries are packed full of nutrients and are particularly high in Vitamin C and Potassium.  They also provide 9% of the recommended daily amount (RDA) of Folate, which is needed to produce red and white blood cells and for the production of haem - the iron content of haemoglobin.  Other key nutrients contained in strawberries are Vitamin A, calcium, magnesium and phosphorus.

Strawberries are tasty enough to eat on their own but if you are missing the cream, why not replace with yoghurt for a healthier option?

Tuesday’s Boot Camp

We will be at Jerbourg at 6 pm for Tuesday’s boot camp.  Don’t forget to bring a drink and a good pair of legs.

There is no getting around it….

If you want to lose weight or maintain your current weight then exercising is essential.

Convinced?

Additionally exercising has many health benefits, including reducing stress levels, lowering cholesterol, reducing the risk of heart disease, lowering blood pressure, reducing the risk of osteoporosis and type II diabetes.

Convinced now?  I really hope so.

With regards to weight loss, exercising increases your metabolic rate which means you will start to burn more fuel (food) and use this for energy.  The better the quality of fuel that you consume, the easier it is for your body to burn that fuel as energy rather than store it as fat.

If you have not exercised for a long time and/or have health issues, I suggest you consult with your GP prior to commencing an exercise programme.

If in doubt on what is the best exercise to do then it is wise to consult a professional fitness instructor.
