Superfoods - Broccoli and family

Broccoli is part of the cruciferous family which also includes kale, cauliflower and cabbage.  It is rich in nutrients, containing antioxidants vitamins A and C which fight illness including the common cold.  It also contains calcium for strong bones and folic acid which is vital for growth and combats heart disease. 

Additionally, for women, it helps to prevents cervical cancer and can reduce osteoporosis.  Broccoli is also packed full of fibre which helps to prevent constipation.  It is best eaten raw or slightly steamed, don’t boil out the goodness.
