Assessment week & Saturday’s Boot Camp

Well done to tonight’s participants for your efforts in the assessments. I was really pleased to see that you had improved on your previous bests.  It makes the effort worth while.

Saturday’s boot camp will be on the Lihou Island headland.  Intermediate at 10 am and Beginners at 11 am.

Everything in moderation - even exercise

When people make the decision to lose weight and get fit everything goes really well for the first few weeks.  They are in the gym every day, eating enough to feed a squirrel and then “bang” something goes wrong.  They get injured, exhausted or sick (or all 3), by the time they are ready to get back to exercising they have slipped back into their old routine and that is the end of the health and fitness campaign.  Sound familiar?

Where did they go wrong?  It’s important when you get into exercising that you allow your body time to recover.  This is when your body gets stronger ……so make sure you take some days off.  Initially I would suggest you do very light exercise (eg walking) every other day (between your exercise sessions) or take a day off totally, to allow recovery.

Also, your body does need fuel to exercise and for your brain to function so don’t diet…just eat sensibly.  You need to look after your body…you only have the one.
