Don’t forget to stretch

A stretching session should be carried out at the end of your exercise session. This ensures that your muscles are returned to their normal resting length (as they tend to get shortened when exercising).

If you don’t stretch you could lose some of your range of movement which could, over a period of time, result in injury.  It is also suggested that stretching is conducted at the beginning of a training session once you have completed your warm up.

To maintain your range of movement, you should hold a stretch for 8-10 seconds.  Always stretch when your muscles are warm, either after a training session or when you are just out of the bath or shower.

Stretching is important and not a waste of time.  It only takes minutes so don’t miss stretching out of your routine.
