Garlic - it might cause smelly breath but there are so many good points

I am frequently told off by my other half for eating too much garlic.  I especially like garlic on Mike’s homemade pizza (which I might add is an occasional treat).  However, despite the odour it is very tasty and, not only that, it offers many health benefits.  It is packed with vitamins and minerals such as calcium, potassium and zinc not to mention the good cholesterol (HDL).

Garlic acts as a medicine against lung illnesses such as coughs, asthma and hoarseness.  It also helps regulate blood pressure, low or high.  Garlic helps to loosen plaque from the artery walls and plays a part in regulating blood sugar levels.  It can help to thin the blood too.

Part of the onion family, garlic helps to strengthen the body’s immune system against allergies and colds.  It can act as a decongestant and expectorant too.   Now, how to deal with that bad breath.  This can be difficult because the smell comes from your lungs not your mouth and it also seeps out of your pores.  Advice is to drink lemon juice or eat a few slices of lemon.
