Foods for the Skin

Carrots are great for the skin – they contain beta-carotene, which the body converts to Vitamin A.  If you are lacking in Vitamin A, this could cause dry skin.  They also contain Vitamin C which is a powerful antioxidant and fights against free radicals which cause premature aging of the skin.  Avocados are high in monounsaturated fat – this is a “healthy fat” and is needed by the body.  Avocados contain omega-3 fatty acids which help to keep our skin looking young.  Green tea is loaded with antioxidants which help to reduce the risk of damage caused to the skin by the sun’s ultraviolet rays.  Not only this, but it is rich in Vitamins C, D and K and some essential minerals such as calcium, zinc and magnesium.   Green tea is reported to help with the symptoms of acne and eczema.
