Introduction to Tai Chi

For those of you attending boot camps, I am incorporating a small amount of tai chi at the end of each class, mainly to give you a few minutes to relax.  I have been practising tai chi for some time and have found it very beneficial.  I’ve provided answers to some of the questions I’ve received below:-

What is Tai Chi?

Tai Chi is an ancient martial art which comprises co-ordinated body movements focusing on the development of internal energy (known as ‘chi’ or ‘qi’).  Tai chi is quite unique in that there are a number of areas it has an influence over, such as on our health, self-healing, meditative state, stress levels, fitness and is also a form of self defence.

What is the aim of Tai Chi?

Its aim is to harmonise the mind, body and spirit, and promote both mental and physical well-being.

What are benefits of Tai Chi?

Tai Chi improves balance and posture and helps to reduce stress levels.   It gently tones and strengthens muscles.  It improves balance and posture and improves some medical conditions, such as musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory and digestive disorders.

No Partner for Boot Camp?

Hey Folks

Don’t worry if you don’t have a willing partner to come along to boot camp.  No one will be left on their own when partners are needed.

If you have any doubts or questions, please feel free to get in contact info@bowditchfit.com.

All the best
