What’s your New Year’s Resolution?

Did you know that about 80% of all New Year’s Resolutions fail by the end of January?  If that resolution is related to health & fitness then it is likely to be one of  a massive 90% which will fail by mid January!  By the end of the year, less than 5% of us will have persevered with our resolutions intact.  That’s a sorry state of affairs.

So, if you want your resolution to succeed then you have to be serious about it and take action.  Here are some ideas:-

1. Set yourself achievable and sensible goals, ie not something which seems too far out of reach.  When you achieve those goals, you can always set new ones.

2. Get some support and encouragement from family and friends to help you succeed.   Also, if you tell people about your goal, you will feel more obligated to seeing it through.

3. Picture success, eg if your goal is to lose 2 stone, picture yourself 2 stone lighter and imagine how achieving that will impact your life.

4. Set yourself milestones (smaller goals) to help with progress along the way.  So if you want to lose 2 stone in 6 months, you should set a milestone of losing 1/2 stone in 6 weeks.

5. Write down your goal and pin it somewhere easily visible.  It’s easy to forget or ignore a resolution that isn’t written down.

6. Seek help.  If you need assistance with your goal go get help.

7. Commit….the buck stops with you.

Happy New Year!!
